3 - Day Bareboat Cruising Class
Students will learn to responsibly skipper, crew or bareboat charter
an inboard auxiliary powered cruising sailboat within sight of land
to a port or an anchorage during daylight hours in moderate to strong
wind and sea conditions.
This is the major goal of many sailors; to
be able to bareboat charter or cruise with confidence. This certification
opens the door to the beautiful world of tropical destinations and advances
you to larger boats capable of longer passages. Classes are taught aboard
our Irwin 34' or C&C 36' sloops powered by an auxiliary diesel engine
and nicely equipped for this course. You will polish your sailing skills,
work with boat systems, tow a dinghy, learn advanced anchoring techniques
and coastal navigation and more in preparation for actually Bareboat
Chartering on your own.
Successfully complete this level and you'll be ready to set sail on
week long cruises or bareboat charters in exotic tropical destinations
aboard cruising sailboats up to 40' in length. You will be very confident
in your level of sailing skills and boating competence. This course
is required by most Bareboat Charter Companies worldwide.
